If he gets a good lawyer he probably can get this appealed in a couple of years and be free again. However, at the end of the day, the situation was out of pocket.

No there is no "Attempted Murder" charge in GA...Once again AGG Assault covers it all there's extra s*** they add onto the AGG Assault which proves intent that increases the minimum amount of prison time (which is five years) but it's not like other states that have a completely separate Attempted Murder charge.

Georgia does have an attempted murder law but it's harder to prove intent than it is to meet the criteria for aggravated assault. Most DA's wont touch anything that you have to meet intent or conspiracy unless they really have a solid case. That's a quick way to lose cases and end your law career. Plus in GA there's a 90% rule for AA and the max is 25 years on that charge alone. So theoretically you could be charged with murder and actually do less time because of the difference in mandatory time until parole. All that said they didn't even say how much time he got for the possession charge (which is a max of 10) and I'm not sure on the mandatory on that one. So, depending on how the judge split it up between the 25 years he got will determine when he's up for parole but, I could see it easily being 16-19 years with the 90% on the AA charge.

He got 25 years for AGG Assault and using a gun during a felony...not just gun possession. AGG Assault in GA is a up to 20 year charge. GA doesn't have attempted murder charge so the aggravated assault covers that as well that's why it's such a high charge. 25 years for those two crimes is about right considering he actually did bodily harm...He probably would've only gotten 10 had he plead out. I'm just surprised he wasn't convicted of murder though.

How you do 10-12 years on a felony charge when your sentenced 25 years?? To the comments above me! Even with good behavior/programs or serving in a federal max your not dropping below 75% of your time. Never been but my brothers serving time for sellin keys to undercover fbi agent. He got 25 with an L and reduced time for federal max sentence but got an additional 3 for escape
