If you have not heard of XO and his Black Militia Commission movement, you must have been asleep. Gripping the mic since he was 12, XO is no rookie to the game of Rap. After establishing his label Black Militia in 2005, he released his first single, “Actin’ Bad” featuring ESG and Big Pokey of the Legendary Screwed Up Click on Tony Draper’s famous Suave House label. Black Militia currently houses three artists - Ace Boogie, Double-Hustle, and XO. The trio is now working on a mix tape and brand new single to hit in August of 2012.
XO attributes his music to influences like Michael Jackson, Biggie, Tupac, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Jay-Z, Nas, Mobb Deep, No Limit, The Hot Boyz, DJ Screw, and Pastor Troy.
“I see myself as a rapper's rapper, but at the same time I do my music for the people. I'm a real emcee, with a real story. I don't claim to be the hardest n**** in the world but I am one of the realest. What I do is reality music. Even though my reality may be a lil more turnt’ up than the average person, it just gives people something to strive for. I make street music, party music, but I also try to drop a lil’ knowledge, and give a lil’ game - because I think that's something music today lacks. You ain't gotta preach but you can let people know what the real is.”
