Playbill.com reports that Willow Smith, daughter of Will and Jada-Pinkett Smith, will be starring as the leading lady in the remake of the 1982 movie musical, "Annie," which will begin production in Spring of 2013 in NYC.
Rapper and mogul Jay-Z, who revamped the "Annie" classic It's the Hard Knock Life into Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem) for his third album Vol.2... Hard Knock Life, will be making additions to the remake's score.

The movie will still include traditional compositions by Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin.
Adapted from John Huston's original screenplay by Oscar-winning screenwriter and actress Emma Thompson, the renovated movie will be produced by the Smiths in partnership with Jay-Z.
Beyonce, Jada-Pinkett Smith, Jay-Z, and Will Smith
Prior to this, the three co produced the Broadway sensation Fela.
