Trinidad James Clarifies, But Doesn't Apologize For "Atlanta Runs New York" Comments [Video]

Trinidad James stirred up a hornet's nest last week during a concert in New York when he told the audience that Atlanta runs their city musically.

Several NYC rappers including Maino, Smoke DZA and Hell Rell took offense at what they perceived as disrespect being shown to their hometown.

James addresses the controversy in his new "The Truth Will Set You Free" vlog.

"I picked the wrong place to have a barbershop conversation," James said. "This is not an apology. And I'm never apologizing for the truth. But this is to let the city of New York know I wasn't trying to disrespect you. I could never do that. That's against my code as a man. Forget being a rapper. Most of y'all don't think I can rap anyway. As a man I could never disrespect that city."

Trinidad James was basing his opinion on radio spins and popularity so the internet isn't in the equation. Radio is a dying source for entertainment that won't hold up against the internet. The radio may not be playing music from Action Bronson, Pro-Era, Flatbush Zombies, Phony Ppl, or The Underachievers but the internet is taking notice. French Montana and A$AP Rocky don't represent NY music. You would think that the older fans of Jadakiss, Nas, or DMX would be concerned about their favorite NY rappers not getting any radio spins since they're not familiar with the internet. They have lost faith in radio anyway. Trinidad James' comments are so 2004 anyway. No one cares about the radio.
