As summer 2017 creeps to a close our next guest artist is creeping on a come up with brand new freestyles every week that has flooded the internet and streets and teaming up with BDL4LIFE Entertainment. Hailing from the notorious Queens, NY we are pleased to be joined by King Dante himself.
First off please introduce your self?
What's going on, its the one and only KIng Dante checking in.
Thank You. So your out of Queens Tell us a little about the artist King Dante and how it all began?
Well before I was king dante... I was known as Kobe for destroying people on the court. I've always done music since I was 5. Started out singing in the chior and when I turned 13 I told my mom I didn't want too no more cause it was gay lol. I would say I fell in love with Hip-hop around 11 or 12 after listen to biggies life after death front to back , back to front then 50 cent dropped get rich or die trying and I was hooked!
What change your life to focus your energy into music as outlet for you?
Well like I said I've always loved music and been Involved in it. I started taking it serious after I got in couple legal situations in college and basketball was no longer an option. I had a lot of personal things going on family wise and with myself that I never released. so I felt writing music was the best way to express how I feel and who I am.
Who's were some of your favorite artists you listen to while growing up? And did they influence you? And how ?
If I had to make a list.... I'd say biggie, PAC, Lil Wayne, jay-z, 50 cent (gunit), jadakiss and later on meek mill
What's makes up the artist King Dante?
What makes up king date... God, Family and the streets. I'm one to always give praise to the most high and put my family first. I was made the man I am today by my family and the streets. They taught me a lot early on but once I was on my own 16 years old I turned to the streets. Learn a lot of lessons....lost a lot of people... but we here to make greatness out of those tribulations.
How has music changed your life?
Music is my all my everything...music kept me from killing myself... I was in a dark space at one point of my life. But the sound of that beat and my words kept me pushing towards better days.
How do you feel about the music industry now with all the new talent and music that is coming up right now?
I feel like the music industry "content" wise is at its highest in a while. The "context" of the lyrics maybe missing from so artist but that's what makes them special. Hip hop is the #1 music in the world for the first time ever. It's only going to be come greater. But I do feel like a lot of ppl are doing it only for the check and not the love of the music so there is a huge problem with saturation.your working on your new mixtape that is set to release "Kings Ransom" this year What is this mixtape about ? and what is it you want to share with you fans on This mixtape?
This mixtape is like mother fucka I'm here! It's hard hitting... there's pain...there's excitement... most of all it's a stamp of who king dante is. I didn't get to personal on this one because I'm saving that for my 1st album. Yet you will still get a greater vision of the king Dante...of today's sound mixed with 90s rap. I feel like it's the perfect blend of the north and south. I was born in Atlanta and raised in queens and I think you'll be able to hear that.
If you could sign to any major label in the future to further your career which one would it be?
Man honestly.... my dream is to be side by side with meek mill Forreal so if that means being on dream chasers or mmg I'm wit it! But if that didn't happen I like 300 ent, We the Best or Murda Inc. I feel like with my sound...my story and what I'm trying to build they would make the right home. Never know though
Success to you is.....
The only option!
Besides your EP that your currently working on. Are there any other projects or tours that you have planned for 2017? Any tours coming up we should know about? I'm actually working on the album.... and setting up a promo tour off the mixtape. I'll definitely be at A3C this year and we'll see what else I'm blessed with.
