Snoop Dogg Lands Starring Role In New NBC Family Sitcom

Snoop Dogg will be visiting your living rooms once a week in the near future courtesy of a new NBC sitcom.

According to Deadline, Snoop will be playing the father in a family comedy being written by Don Reo.

Snoop Dogg and Ted Chung are serving as the show's producers, while Reo will executive produce.

Snoop is quite comfortable in front of a camera with 53 acting credits to his name including Soul Plane, Training Day and The Wash. He was recently cast as the lead in the upcoming biopic, The Legend Of Fillmore Slim.

No word on when production starts on the new NBC series.

I haven't seen all of Snoops films, but I've seen some. Baby Boy, Soul Plane, A lil' bit of The Wash. Bones. Training Day. He's not, an actor. Well, a true actor. Anyone can get in front of the camera & say some lines. And remain true to their character. That's not an actor. Snoop is Snoop in every movie. Either a pimp, or a gangsta. Nothing special there. When you break the mold and do something that people don't expect, then you're an actor. You're always gonna bring your image to a movie, like Will Smith being a hero, or Denzel being a 'I won't take any BS character" kinda role, but you play those roles and become those people in the movie. When I see Snoop, I see Snoop. Period.

Snoop has acting credit but it's hard to picture him in "a family sitcom" on "NBC", but it seems like something different America needs.
