A Missouri mom is in all kinds of trouble after her child brought drugs to his kindergarten class
Police in Sweet Springs, MO say 32-year old Michelle Marie Cheatham's son pulled out a crack pipe and several bags of methamphetamine worth $3700 when he came to school for show-and-tell on September 6.
Authorities later obtained a search warrant, and found the crack pipe and a butane lighter at Cheatham's home.
Cheatham was charged six days later with two class C felonies. One for endangering the welfare of a child and the other for possession of a controlled substance. She could receive 7 years in jail and a $5000 fine for each charge if convicted.
Police Chief Richard Downing said this is the first time something like this has happened in his career.
"When I called the prosecutor about it, they said, 'You're kidding me, aren't you?" he told KCTV5.
Cheatham posted a bail of $7500 and was released.
