Russell Simmons Planning Occupy Wall Street Concert. Promises OWS Protest Songs Coming From Major Artists Soon
Russell Simmons is doing what he can to contribute to the Occupy Wall Street movement.
In a recent interview with Billboard.biz, the business mogul says he's been in talks with artists who will be recording OWS inspired songs.
"There's a lot of music coming. I don't want to say who until they're dropping these bombs," he said. "These are artists I'm aware of that I pushed to do it, supported their efforts to do it, told them why it was important, briefed them on the demands of the protestors. There'll be a protest song that goes with Occupy Wall Street. I promise you that. Me and you, promise."
Simmons added that there is also an OWS concert also in the works.
"We are definitely discussing it. We're definitely working for permits. We're definitely looking to make a huge impact. We're actively working for permits. We'll have one in our hands soon."
Good to see Uncle Rush lending a hand.

That's because we are about to Occupy Hip-Hop...Russell need to stand clear and leave these f****** rappers out of it...They really won't take protestors seriously after all these coon-a** rapper jump on the bandwagon.We do not need any kind of help from rappers, because they tend to flip it and make a big f****** joke out of it all.

This is just another way to feed off the sheep. I hope Jay Z and Kanye performs....JIgga in his OAS shirt and Kanye in his limited NIKES people will sleep on the street for a week to get, yet can't pay their rent.

Very true...I think artists were more free before.....now you can tell how controlled everything is. Even when 50 made that 1st statement, some dude came on here and told him it wasn't worth it. And there probly IS a threat when you speak out against your "master" // Money. That's why we can do it for them. Because just heard today that a pregnant woman was hit with a baton and pepper sprayed, and lost her baby. Wha can you say to that? There are no words. And if you saw those cops spraying those kids as they sat on the ground....dam if it wasn't just like watching the cops spray black people with hoses in the 60's....same intent.

I wish Russell would do and Occupy Hip Hop to expose the media oligopoly that's brainwashing the youth and barring real diversity in the game.
