On Sunday August 30, 2009 from 11am – 4 pm there will be a Street Renaming Ceremony in honor of the historic accomplishments, of the Rap Group Run D.M.C. Earlier this year they where inducted into the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This has proven to be a great source of pride within the Hollis community. Their dedication and hard work has been an inspiration to the community in which they grew up and represented so well. It is why Councilman Leroy Comrie recently enacted legislation to rename a street in honor of the group. The bill passed unanimously and was signed into law by Mayor Michael Bloomberg a few weeks ago. Thus, it would be the Councilman’s Comries pleasure and honor to have them come back to the community and celebrate the naming of their own street. Councilman Comrie would like to personally invite you for to the street sign unveiling of “RUN D.M.C. J.M.J. Way on August 30, 2009 from 11 am to 4 pm, at the corner of 205th Street and Hollis Avenue in Hollis, Queens. The unveiling will take place at 1pm
