We've just learned that rapper Heavy D has died.

TMZ is reporting that the 44-year old was found unconscious in a hallway of his Beverly Hills home this morning. When paramedics arrived he was awake and talking. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Heavy D rose to prominence in the late 80's and early 90's with hits like "The Overweight Lover's in the House", "Now That We Found Love" and many more.

He performed a medley of hits at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards just last month.

Rest in peace to a hip hop legend.

Let this be a lesson to every wack rapper out there. Make REAL music and you'll be here (in spirit) forever.

D*mn, not Heav...I gotta to call Moms on this, Heavy D is 1 of my Moms favorite rappers! Moms don't even listen to rap no more but she did from like '85-'96, i was born in the early '80s so Heav was that dude in the rap-game back then with a young LL, Rakim, Slick Rick etc., Heavy was the original Big MC that was fly & cool before Biggie & Pun! Heavy was rockin' that Cross Colors, Karl Kani, Guess, 8-ball jackets...Heavy was that dude and he rep for da light-skin brothers! God bless his family...RIP Heav
