NYPD Investigating Whether Gunshots Were Fired During Chris Brown-Drake Brawl. Club Owner Arrested. Brown Fearing Being Labeled A Snitch Now Says He Didn't See Drake
Jonathan Cantor, Manager of Club WIP has been arrested on outstanding warrants, but speculation is NYPD is trying to squeeze him for more information about the fight between Chris Brown and members of Drake's entourage. Police also say they are investigating whether gunshots were fired inside the club during the brawl.
“We are investigating the possibility of gunshots fired at the club,” NYPD spokesman Paul Browne told the New York Daily News. “We have several eyewitnesses telling detectives they heard what they believed to be shots fired during the disturbance. We have several witnesses who said they heard a sound they believed was a gunshot.”
So far no ballistic evidence has been found to back up those witness claims.
The Daily News is reporting that Brown, his bodyguard Big Pat and his girlfriend Karrueche Tran have been questioned by police, but Brown is now denying that he saw Drake in the club out of fear of being labeled a snitch.
Despite Brown's denial, stories continue to pour in that Drake instigated the fight after rejecting a $2000 bottle of Armand de Brignac Champagne that Brown sent over to his table as a peace offering. Drake reportedly sent the bottle back along with a note that read “I am f*cking the love of your life."
21-year old model Ingrid Gutierrez was sitting at Brown's table when the trouble began.
“I saw him tell the waitress to send a bottle to Drake’s table. I then saw a waitress come back with a piece of paper and gave it to Chris,” she told the New York Post. “He looked upset and just threw it on the floor.”
Gutierrez says that at that point Drake, his bodyguards and Meek Mill approached their table.
“They were giving him [Brown] the middle finger. They got into each other’s faces and were shouting at each other,” Gutierrez said. “Chris told Drake to f*ck off, and the next thing I could hear is the sound smashed glass and mayhem started. Somebody in Drake’s group — I don’t think it was Drake — swung at Chris, but missed. Chris didn’t swing back, he just tried to brush them off. He told us, ‘Let’s go,’ but there were bottles flying at us. I saw one bottle was thrown, it looked like a vodka bottle, and hit Chris on the face,” she said. “The anger from Drake’s entourage was terrifying. There was blood gushing out of Chris’ chin.”

At least eight people were injured by flying bottles and glass including Big Pat, who suffered a gash to his forehead. Also injured were two Australian tourists. One, 23-year old Megan Cassidy, was knocked unconscious. Another, 24-year old Hollie C., required 16 stitches to close a wound to her head.

The Daily News is reporting that one lawsuit is already being filed by Long Island lawyer Steven Gaitman on behalf of Howard Clement of Brooklyn, who said he was hurt in the fight.
