No Charges To Be Filed Against Mike Tyson For Alleged Airport Assault Of Photographer

Los Angeles Times: The city attorney’s office has decided not to charge former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson or a photographer in connection with a scuffle in November at Los Angeles International Airport.

After the Nov. 11 incident, Tyson said the photographer, Tony Echeverria, struck him in an apparent attempt to provoke him; Echeverria accused Tyson of punching him in the face and trying to take the film from his camera.

Both men were arrested.

Tyson was booked on suspicion of battery and released on his own recognizance. Echeverria was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries to his face.

“We took a look at the evidence and concluded that there was insufficient evidence that either party was at fault beyond a reasonable doubt,” said Frank Mateljan, spokesman for the city attorney's office. “It didn’t rise to the level of filing a charge.”
