Nas is pretty much a living legend in the rap game. In a career that has spanned 20-plus years he has dropped classic gems both as a solo artist as well as collaborations with Mobb Deep, Jay-Z, Damian Marley, AZ, 50 Cent and more.
In a new outtake from his BECOMING interview, Nas speaks on when he realized he wanted to become a performer and his early musical influences.
"I would say since I could remember. Watching a great musical movie like 'Grease,' watching the Jackson 5 cartoon, Kiss the rock band. That looked like where all the action was. I knew that was the life for me, being in front of audiences" Nas said, explaining when he first got the itch to perform. "I knew it... you know you're not sure for real back then, but in my mind I prepared for it."
Nas said his early musical influences were Rick James, The Jackson 5 and James Brown.
"They were like heroes, I thought they were great," he added.
