Nas Encourages Everyone To Vote "The Future Of This Country Is In The Hands Of The Young People" [Video]

Video After The Jump

We're seeing more and more artists get involved in politics by urging citizens to make a difference by going out to vote. Queens rapper Nas is the latest to speak out. He sat down with Ourtime.org to film this short clip. Check out what he has to say.

"The future of this country is in the hands of the young people," Nas said. "We have the power. We can go to to the polls in droves to get the person that we want, we can do that. Now that I voted I feel so much power that I didn't feel before. I feel like what I say matters."

Register to vote at www.ourtime.org and let your voice be heard.

As a registered voter, Obama has not convinced me that I should vote for him...So far Obama has catered to the wealthy, the large corporations that can afford his $40,000 a plate minimum. So at this point everyone is saying vote for Obama because he is a black man, well in my opinion Obama is just a black face with a white persons agenda. Our ancestors didn't put in so much work so that we can vote just to vote, they put in the work so that we can vote for the person who we feel is best...And right now it's no one.

I am a fan of Nas and a supporter of a lot of his messages in music that are always overlooked by his gritty depictions of reality. I Agree that we have the power to change the government, but Voting doesn't matter. In a monetary system there is no such thing as a real democracy. Both political parties are owned by the same set of corporate lobbyists. They are placed in there positions by the corporations and are sold to the people by biased media outlets. Instead of pretending like the politcal system has any meaning at all make a difference by protesting, contacting your congressman or local politician or rallying and occupying.
I am voting for obama though only because he is black. I think that the more americans see ethnicity in power the more it will kill of racism.
