Is 50 Cent’s new pop, dance and R&B music label another in a long line of successful ventures for the increasingly busy mogul? With the release of his protégé Hot Rod’s new single "Dance With Me" on G-Note Records, the world will soon find out.
The Phoneix, Arizona rapper was previously signed to Fif’s first imprint G-Unit Records back in 2006, until he was later dropped by Interscope shortly after his debut. As the flagship artist for G-Note, Hot Rod is back out front with his new single "Dance With Me" and the rapper performed the single live at the Las Vegas venue Marquee during 50’s party to debut his new Sleek by 50 headphone line on January 7.
The up tempo track from German producer Fuego — who has worked alongside notables such as R&B legend Ron Isley and songstress Christina Milan — is a busy affair. With Euro-styled heavy bass, layered snyths and auto-tuned vocals from Hot Rod, the song seems primed for dance floors worldwide and the rapper’s verses keep it simple.
Says Hot, "Oh, I got it you got it, we can have it together/ Me in back and you in front of me, that feel so much better/ So DJ play my song, DJ play my song/ We rock it to the ship, all night long/ Now the dance floor's on fire, making rain up in the club/ The way you're moving got me thinking I'm in love/ One finger to the sky thank him up above/ Together we're so amazing, we're so amazing."
The 25-year old rapper is working on his upcoming album My Life slated for a summer release. While no official listing has been posted, Rod did tell Vibe in December that Akon and Pharrell Williams will be featured on the release.
