Meek Mill Says He's 'Scared to Be Political', Talks Police, Relationship With Nicki Minaj, Joe Budden's Criticism & More

Meek Mill has been trolled on social media this week after the two diss songs from Drake, on a new interview with Billboard Meek put the beef in perspective, as he opened up about his relationship with Nicki Minaj, being scared to be political, his experiences with the police growing up in Philadelphia, Joe Budden comments, "All Eyes On You" & "Only", jail and more.

Check out some excperts from the interview below.

On his relationship with Nicki Minaj:

“You want to be private with your girl once in a while. I would love to be able to just walk down the street by ourselves. Say my mom took a picture of me with no shirt on. I’m skinny — I got a little bird chest and a fat stomach. I can’t really tell my mom not to take that picture, that I’m not trying to have that type of look in the streets.”

"You want to be private with your girl once in a while, I would love to be able to just walk down the street by ourselves."

On argument with Nicki over ‘All Eyes On You':

“She wanted it to be my single, and I didn’t. It turned into an ego argument. She killed me on that song,” admits Meek, “but I don’t really care. When my girl do better than me, I still win. When I do better than her, she still wins.”

On Drake and Lil Wayne’s raps about Nicki on ‘Only':

“She wasn’t my girl then, but now she wouldn’t even had did that”

On Joe Budden’s comments:

“You can’t be hard all the time, man. There’s both sides to everything. What’s wrong with it? Jay Z was a street rapper and he had a girlfriend.”

On politics:

"I'm scared to be political," he says. "You get too powerful and more people try to take you out. My son ain't trying to hear that his dad got put away because he was fighting for the country."

On police:

"[They] beat the s*** out of me," he said. "[I had] a concussion, stitches, braids ripped out. My blood was on the ceiling, on the floor."

On Jail:

"That's the closest I ever came to losing my mind. You're talking to yourself, playing games with the birds in the window. It's hell.

On his mom:

"Sometimes people just turn to the closest thing to get money, She made it work."

"Say my mom took a picture of me with no shirt on, I'm skinny -- I got a little bird chest and a fat stomach. I can't really tell my mom not to take that picture, that I'm not trying to have that type of look in the streets."

On Philadelphia:

"Philly ain't a good environment for you when you headed in a different direction. Bad things happen left and right. You might walk up the street, make a wrong turn, and your whole life could flip."
