On Oct. 7th
Lupe sent a picture via Twitter
of himself with Atlantic Records executive Julie Greenwald
along with the caption "Victory." The next day a press release was issued and the March 8th 2011 release date for his forthcoming album "Lasers"
Lupe and his fans gathered outside the artists label Atlantic Records
offices in Manhattan to celebrate executives setting a release date. The event organized by fans was named "Fiasco Friday"
, up to 200 fans celebrated for hours before Lupe arrived around 3 p.m. He spoke to his fans and said, "So y'all actually did it, huh?"
Each remark from Lupe drew a big response. He continued to say "The first thing i want to say is congratulations. The second thing i want to say is, thank you very much for putting on a very peaceful protest. The third thing i want to say is, Lasers is dropping March 8th!"
