NyDailyNews.com: Britney Spears is in desperate need of a trip to the salon.

The pop star, who famously shaved off her blond locks during a 2008 breakdown, showed off a head full of ratty extensions during a shopping trip to Crate and Barrel in Sherman Oaks, Calif. on Thursday.

Casually dressed in an orange tank top, beige shorts and brown boots, Spears could do little to hide the large section of extension-free dark roots in the back of her head that could be easily mistaken for a birds nest. Even worse, the singer appears to have a clearly-visible bald spot.

Despite the frightful hair day, Spears recently came across some good news.

According to RadarOnline.com, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services has officially dropped its child abuse investigation against the 28-year-old singer.

The department said there was "absolutely no truth to the accusations" made by former bodyguard Fernando Flores, who had accused Spears of beating her two sons, Sean Preston, 4, and Jayden James, 3, with a belt.

"Sean and Jayden's pediatricians submitted documentation that the boys were healthy, and that they have never seen any signs of abuse," the source told Radar. "The case was officially closed after the department received that information from the boys' doctor."

"Flores is an opportunist seeking his 15 minutes of fame," added another source.
