Lion King Alum Shannon Tavarez' Mother Makes a Statement ["It is our hope that Shannon’s legacy will continue to inspire other brave children battling leukemia"]
As we reported yesterday, 11- year old Lion King star Shannon Tavarez lost her battle with Leukemia.
Below is a message that Shannon's mother wanted to share with the world:
“Shannon’s strength and her happy, positive spirit will live on in our hearts and minds each day. Shannon’s dream was to perform on stage, and that she did. We are grateful for the ongoing support from her Lion King family and the Broadway community. Shannon wanted to recruit people everywhere to “get swabbed” and help save the lives of those in need of a bone marrow transplant. In her memory, our family and friends will work tirelessly to carry out her wish through MatchShannon.com . It is our hope that Shannon’s legacy will continue to inspire other brave children battling leukemia. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers.”

Having lost someone so dear to me this past year to this horrible disease; I am truly touched by this story. These victims are some of the bravest people I have ever had the honor to meet and inspire me to be stronger and take less for granted. Good health IS wealth which when lost reverses your prospective on life and the importance of non-essential things. Be good to each other and give whatever you have to give to help your fellow man, for you never know when you may be the one needing the helping hand. To health & goodness, we make promises. To pain, we obey. Wishing each of you abundant good health, happiness and longevity. May Shannon's family find some peace in their lives sooner than later and continue to promote her legacy.

wow i'm speechless, I remember being touched by this story but not going out and getting swabbed. It now makes me thing, what if I was a donor match and I could have gone out and saved a life... something for all of us to think about ..... Maybe one day we will be the one's who would be in similar situations or a close one and we would give anything for people out there to lend a helping hand !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All these people saying she is heaven and god has a plan, did he or she have a plan when hurrican katrina hit, or when young children are getting stoned to death is eastern countries, damn, god needs to work a bit harder at making his plans if this is what he is coming up with.
