I felt this song so much, I immediately started writing. And this is what I came up with...(over the same track)

Eyes Open

First impressions are funny...if you don't see how,
Look at the response to Haiti, and look at New Orleans now,
See how urgent it is now, and all that helping out now,
Quick to run overseas, but no simpathy for home towns,
Millions of dollars, quickly donated,
I wouldn't be surprised if the Gulf Coast, really feel hated,
And that conceives hatred, cursed with more hatred,
But that doesn't erase the diar need, needed in Haiti...
Why can't the effort, displayed abroad...?
Be applied to home, as it is abroad!
And why are houses that swam in the 9th Ward,
Still closed up, rotten and nailed with boards?!
There are legitimate reasons...I'm sure, of course!
But who has the answers? Who's making these calls?
On FEMA they must lean, very little support,
And many still waiting on a ring back from the Lord!
I'm lookin' at pictures, and the disasters so similar,
Lookin' at the aftermath of Katrina, really no differnce, JAH!
Every once in a while, everybody gets 'Blind Sided'
So they need a Mike, to protect where their hine's sight is,
New Orleans needs a mic, to tell us where their mind's light is,
So we can better the assistance in Haiti, as they try and find it,
As we race to help the unfortunate in foreign countries,
Please don't forget home, no matter how much you run from it.
