Joey Bada$$ Didn't Sign With Roc Nation Because He Wants To Become Jay Z (Video)

Pro Era emcee Joey Bada$$ stopped by "The Whoolywood Shuffle" to promote his new single "Ready" produced by Shade 45's Statik Selektah. He sat down with DJ Whoo Kid to talk about meeting Jay Z at 17, and how in-tune Hov is to the underground still. Joey also speaks on the philanthropic ventures that he's working on, his favorite weed strain, and elaborates how this presidential election is like the WWE. He also mentioned that Roc Nation was his dream label coming up, but when the meeting came with Jigga he changed his mind. Ironically, Jay Z was the one who inspired him to go his own route, via the book “Decoded” that Jay Z published a few years ago. “There’s this one chapter in [“Decoded”] where [Jay Z] went to meet with Russell Simmons to sign with Def Jam. He said his only thought sitting across the table from Russell Simmons was ‘I don’t wanna be signed to this n****, I wanna BE this n****,’” Joey recalls. “I kinda had that same perspective.”

He's an idiot and he doesn't want to be Jay-Z, he wants to murder Jay-Z. That's like saying Jesus Christ shouldn't have went to John the Baptist because Jesus Christ wanted to be John the Baptist. You were drawn to the biggest respected name in Hip Hop and you turned it down and your logic was that you want his position? Your logic is obviously illogical and comes from a place of evil. You'll know it's Christian Psalms Hardnis!! The album artwork has my .40 Caliber!! Listen DL

Lisa, Diane and the Birth of Black Comedy at The Proper Cafe

To keep it totally "100" with my "oldheads" and "young'uns," Lisa Angel Ray and Diane Gibbs, the founders of Non-Stop Entertainment masterminded and gave birth to weekly Black Comedy shows in Queens, New York City. For me, prior to attending "Tuesday Night Comedy" at The Proper Cafe in 1991, my exposure to Black Comedy had been limited to seeing the Richard Pryor film "Live on Sunset Strip" in 1982 and going to the Eddie Murphy "Raw" concert at Madison Square Garden in 1987. Well, I should also…See More
