Golden State Warriors Star Stephen Curry Breaks Single Season Record For 3-Pointers With 288. Ties Mark For Game With 12 In Win Against Oklahoma City (Video)

Video After The Jump

Stephen Curry showed once again that he might be the best 3-point shooter in the history of the NBA Saturday, February 27, in a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

When the point guard sank a long range jumper from about 40 feet from the basket with 0.6 seconds left in overtime, he sealed a 121-118 win for the Golden State Warriors.

"What was that, 40 feet?" teammate Draymond Green asked. "That's absurd."

In the process Curry tied the record for the most 3-pointers made in a game with 12. He finished with 46 points.

"Honestly, I don't know exactly where I am, so it's not like I'm calibrating in my head, all right, 38 feet, 37, 36," Curry said after the game via the Associated Press. "Just literally, you've got a sense of — I've shot the shot plenty of times, you're coming across halfcourt and timing up your dribbles, and you want to shoot before the defense goes in. And that was pretty much my only thought."

The 27-year old's shooting process has left fellow players beyond impressed.

Curry also raised the bar for the most shots made from beyond the arc in a season with 288, breaking his own NBA record.

"I never would have thought at this point in the season I would be closing in on 300 and all that kind of stuff," he said. "That doesn't make sense to me. I've always tried to push the envelope and keep getting better, but a lot has to go right to get to this point."

Do you think Curry is the best long range shooter to step onto an NBA court?

Rpj23 I played division 1 ball...I know for a fact I would dunk on you and let my ballsack rest on your chin. Now back to my point, that shot is a regular shot for Steph. His choice was - 1) Take a wide open 35 footer he knows he can make or 2) Dribble into traffic and take a tougher shot. ....He released the ball with 3 seconds left, he made the right play

I see ur points. But it was pretty much at the buzzer and they weren't down. It was tied. Let it rip f*** it. He practiced that shot a zillion times before anyways

@george. You don't know a single thing about basketball if you think a 34 foot three pointer with 5-7 seconds left in the game and it's tied is a good shot. Also both teams were in the bonus, yes it went in but it's still a bad shot. Steph curry hits bombs yes but that was prob the longest actual jump shot he has taken all year and regardless it's a bad shot. Kudos it went in but a lot of better options then that.

Rpj23 That was a great shot. As soon as he stepped over half court I knew he was taking that shot. How many video clips does sportscenter show of this guy hitting 40 bombs, he practices those shots. It's great basketball when you can consistently make that shot.

Don't get me wrong steph is a great offensive player. Best in the league offensively. But all around, he's not a good defensive player and he's lucky the league is the softest it's been since I can remember. In the Jordan era, they would've thrown this dude around because he's about 140lbs soakin wet. Not saying he isn't good but even though he made that shot to beat okc, the game was tied and they were in the bonus. This guy pulls up for a 34 foot three pointer with like 5 seconds left. It's not a good shot and it's not good basketball, yes I know it went In but it's not the correct shot to take in that instance.

@ronald. You're an idiot. Oscar Robertson was never known as a great shooter. So why you saying Oscar Robertson can't even F with him. And @mycommentmadeumad. Absolutely no way this guy is even close to Jordan. Let's stop all that greatest talk. Steph would never survive in the era Jordan played in.
