Five 2013 Albums With Surprisingly Low First-Week Sales

There are many reasons why the first-week sales of albums could be a total bust. It could be due to terrible promotion strategies, a weak first single, and/or premature leakage. Whatever the case may be, there were definitely some albums in 2013 that didn't rise to the occasion.

Thanks to Vibe, we provide several albums that didn't hit the triple digit selling mark and why.

Trinidad James Don't Be S.A.F.E.
Released 01/29/2013

1st week sales: 11,000
Assumptions of why it failed to sell: A majority of listeners downloaded the mixtape for free.

Joe Budden No Love Lost
Released 02/05/13

1st week sales: 30,000
Assumptions of why it failed to sell: His exposure on Love & Hip Hop and his Slaughterhouse affiliation.

Will.i.am #willpower
Released 03/26/13

1st week sales: 29,446
Assumptions of why it failed to sell: Maybe the hashtag album title got people confused.

Tyga Hotel California
Released 04/09/13

1st week sales: 51,466
Assumptions of why it failed to sell: It lacked a trendy single like "Racks."

Snoop Lion Reincarnated
Released 04/23/13

1st week sales: 21,301
Assumptions of why it failed to sell: The reggae style probably didn't attract his regular hip-hop fans.

Better luck next time!

Trinidad James the only one that make sense, can't believe 11k people bought a mixtape. Truth be told, they all did it to themselves, James just got the best excuse. It's also no coincidence all these n***** images have taken a huge hit or apart of who they are as artist. Everybody on this list tried WAY to hard to get attention this year.

Puts a smile on my face to see Snoop Lion (Ctfu) get very little support with his government d*** ride'n a** Ctfu! Will say I'm shock'd that William did so horrible, thought he had a huge following with his commercial a**.

A lot of people that avidly listen to music, if not most, don't buy CD's anymore. They aren't watching TV shows to see recording artists promote their album like they used to before YouTube and Itunes existed. They would have to watch that online. People resort to watching their favorite artist online. They listen to their music online as well. After all, if you had an album available online that you really enjoyed listening to, would you additionally purchase the CD version of it? It would depend on who the consumer is.

I bought Buddens album, he never spits weak bars, I think he lost his audience when he dropped a commercial single with Wayne....
