What is unique about you and your music?

HUNNY MADU: I rap and sing and I share my true life stories through my music, i'm also a fashion killer!

RADIO3000: I would have to say my versatility. Growing up I studied all genres of music and learned to apply different elements to my own music.

What shaped your music?

HUNNY MADU: I remember watching MC Lyte and Queen Latifah at a very young age, and soon became a real number one fan of Lauryn Hill, i grew up looking at female rappers as the embodiment of strength and beauty. Growing up, my mum exposed me to a lot of music too; from Motown, Broadway, Jazz, Soul.. etc.

RADIO3000: As a kid I moved around a lot. From city to city, school to school. Doing this I had the opportunity to meet new people all the time from different walks of life. I believe this played a big part in my approach to music because I got to see life from many different perspectives.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

HUNNY MADU: Right after i finish university. I got my degree and then started gigging alot around town and actively started recording.

RADIO3000: My very first time on stage was when I was 8 years old. I was a back up dancer for my best friend Dominic and Jermaine, who at the time where performing as Kris Kross. I remember the feeling of wanting to be the front man of the show. Every since then I have wanted to be a entertainer.

What type of music do you listen to?

HUNNY MADU: Everything really. R&B at night, hiphop and rock when i work out, pop songs when i'm driving around.
Jazz really early in the morning.

RADIO3000: Right now Im listening to a lot of Jay-Z, Alabama Shakes, and of course Bay Area music. Im pretty much all over the place.

Who, to you, is the most undervalued music artist?

HUNNY MADU: So many, but some of them include: Childish Gambino, Ella Mai.

RADIO3000: To me, I would have to say E40,. I think he attributed so much to the hip hop culture both slang and style. The majority of the slang people and artist use today came from 40.

How do you prepare for your performances?

HUNNY MADU: I love planning little details for the live performances and i rehearse and rehearse. Right before i go on stage, i usually stretch, sip water and stay calm and gather all my thoughts. I'm usually really quiet before i go on stage.

RADIO3000: Countless hours of practice. Im a perfectionist so my show preparation is serious.

What ignites your (song) writing flow?

HUNNY MADU: I usually have great inspiration early in the morning at the crack of dawn or late in the night. I think what relates between those two timings is the fact that the day feels like its at the start or the end, before the phone calls start coming in.

RADIO3000: It depends on the vibe. Sometimes I can catch a wave and sometimes I cant. Usually I like to spark up some Cali and let my mind run free. Thats when the magic typically happens.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

HUNNY MADU: I think if i was not in music, i'd still be in a creative industry, possibly in an advertising agency or film production. I have experience as a Radio DJ and a TV host so that's definitely one of the other choices for my career path.

RADIO3000: Boxing and traveling is my favorite things to do outside of music. Im a huge boxing fan so you can catch me watching fights or studying fighters like all the time. Travel is life for me. Currently Im in South East Asia. I believe travel opens up your creative mind.

Success to you is…

HUNNY MADU: Always and forever: Happiness and health. The ability to afford what you desire. In the end ultimately, my goal is to be financially free.

RADIO3000: Success is what you make it. Its when you accomplish all of your personal goals and beyond.
