Emmett Till's Family Writes Open Letter To Lil Wayne About 'Karate Chop' Lyrics. Rapper Has Not Yet Reached Out To Them [Letter Inside]
They say words can hurt just as much as any weapon when used in a derisive manner. That's why today after many people have already forgotten, Lil Wayne's offensive lyrics about Emmett Till in the "Karate Chop" remix released a week ago still haunt his family.
Till was 14-years old when he was brutally murdered in 1955 for whistling at a white woman. While Epic Records CEO LA Reid has reached out to the family and apologized for the song and vowed to remove the offensive lyrics, Wayne has yet to communicate with Till's relatives.
The family has penned an open letter to the rapper, which Vibe has published.
"How would you feel if your child was beaten beyond recognition, body mutilated, disfigured, tortured for hours, unnecessarily shot after being beaten to death, lynched in barbed wire, weighed down by a 70-pound cotton gin fan and tossed in a river with intent to never be found again?" part of the letter reads.

15 years ago, every American history textbook for both elementary and high school students contained the Emmett Till incident. Most textbooks today do not mention the incident or much of anything else about black history. This was a big, national story when it happened. So most Americans over 30 have learned about the incident in school or remember when it actually happened. It's is only younger generations (and of course, non-Americans) that don't realize the significance of this incident which is one of the events that led up to the Civil Rights Movement of the 60s.

There are alot of idiots posting on here but if it was your Mother, sibling or child that had gotten killed in such a horrible way you would not appreciate anyone using their name like that.
