Eminem Once Tested Kendrick Lamar To Make Sure He Didn't Have A Ghostwriter

In a new interview at The Zach Sang Show, UK singer Ed Sheeran shared an interesting story he heard from Rick Rubin about the first time Eminem and Kendrick Lamar worked together on “Love Game,” a collaboration for Em's album The Marshall Mathers LP 2. According to Sheeran, Em made sure that when Kendrick came to write his verse, he didn't have any help.

"I heard a very cool story about Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. Eminem...heard that Kendrick Lamar was the best rapper and he invited him to the studio to get him on a song. He arrived and Kendrick came with all his mates and Eminem said, 'I just want you in the studio, just you on your own. And then my engineer is gonna come in and then record you doing it. But your mates aren’t allowed in."

"Everyone came in to listen to it and Eminem said that he did it to test Kendrick because he thought he had a ghostwriter" Sheeran explained. "He then realized that he didn’t" after after he saw Kendrick write his "Love Game" verse with his own eyes, he was willing to call Kendrick "the best."

You can hear Sheeran tell the story himself at around the 7:50 mark of the video below.

That numbers s*** is for the birds. How many copies of drakes s*** does apple n universal buy? Tech n9ne built his self n u guys r just catching on to strange. I been banging s*** since early 2000's. Em is the goat in a time where the rapper was the rapper. Not performers who just do a better job performing then the rapper. Which is wat made hip hop great. In my day a ghost writer meant no one wants to buy ur s*** just because.

Then it's funny people hate on drake lmao what whack as jay say numbers don't lie drake has the numbers to prove it. It's funny to me people wanna say f*** the numbers. Wake up the numbers represent the people so clearly millions apon millions think drake hot but if whack Ross or jay punk as was doing those numbers everybody would say yo they the best bit cause it's drakes numbers f*** the numbers or f*** he just had the all time hiphop grossed concert ever yes ever. Sheshhhh let the man do his thing dammmm. And remember people buy albums people go to concerts. So it's funny when you say over rated. Over rated is a rick Ross he whack talkin that boss when he's whack no numbers to back everybody on mmg whack but people act like the hot nottttt jay is overrated to me everyone he did a song wit slayed him. He never did high numbers the highest was like 4 million when dudes got multiple ten millions or better and he did that four after he it it out nobody brought it and he went on tour and put it out again then it sold. Where was he when PAC was riding on New York no where to be found. I agree wit you united g except on ll another overrated rapper honestly I think we been fooled cause as I think back was ll a rapper lmao. I think he was a licking his lips A** dude fronting as a rapper to get p****. And sorry canabis tore ll up go back and listen to that battle. Back then people rode wit ll cause people didn't know canabis. But if they had that battle today I think people would clearly say ll lost. But then again people think migos and solider boy fatty and the rest of these dudes are hot so I don't know

Agree with united-gs. Very overrated. Also, that dude told the story wrong. Em never officially tested Kendrick. Cole and Kendrick were in an interview and Kendrick talked about he felt Em might have been testing him cause Em reached out for a hook on Love Game but when Kendrick showed up Em wanted a verse too. The way Em works is not having extra ppl around when recording, and asked if everyone could leave. He might have been testing Kendrick or maybe not, article twisted it a bit. Eminem holds high standards
