With no new hip-hop releases hitting shelves last week, Eminem easily claims the top position of any other rapper on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart, released today (March 8).
Although boasting the highest sales of any rapper on the charts this go-round, the Detroit lyricist slipped one spot down to No. 7. Fans purchased an additional 33,600 copies of Recovery in this sales cycle, according to the Nielsen SoundScan report, making Em’s overall figures stand at 3,667,500.
One position down at No. 9 is Nicki Minaj. The Young Money princess’ debut LP, Pink Friday, earned 32,900 in stats this week, bringing her 14-week tally to 1,159,500.
Rounding out the Top 40 is Kanye West, Lil Wayne and T.I. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy climbed to No. 19 after pushing 15,700 CDs out of the stores, while I Am Not A Human Being dropped three positions to No. 28 with 14,100. Overall Yeezy moved about 1,047,500 units and Weezy scanned around 783,000 units. Tip’s No Mercy, on the other hand, rose up the charts 10 notches to No. 33. In his 12th week, the ATLien boasted 12,900 in sales, giving him a complete sales figure of 452,500.
Next week look for Lupe Fiasco’s Lasers and Raekwon’s Shaolin Vs Wu-Tang to make their way onto the Billboard Top 200.
