Corey "C-Murder" Miller's second-degree murder trial continued this week as an eye-witness testified that the rapper was responsible for killing a 16 year-old in 2002.

Club bouncer Darneil Jordan took the stand yesterday (August 5) and shared his account of what happened.

Jordan told jurors in a Louisiana courtroom he's positive he saw the rapper shoot a 16 year-old Steve Thomas during a night club brawl. However, he said he never saw C-Murder with the gun. Jordan says 15 to 20 people were beating up the teen when he saw Miller slip his hand under the pile, "saw the muzzle flash and heard the gun shot."

Murder's attorney Ron Rakosky spoke in the rapper's defense.

His attorney Ron Rakosky during opening arguments Wednesday (August 5) said that during the seven-year prosecution, authorities never presented "a scintilla" of evidence proving his client is the killer. "He was arrested on flimsy evidence, " Rakosky said during opening statements, adding that Miller, who had financial resources at the time, never fled the area and was arrested a week later while sitting at a bar in the French Quarter.

The victim's father gave his statement in court yesterday.

Mr. Thomas said he got a call at 1 a.m. on the night his son was shot. It was from the bouncer at the Platinum Club. Thomas went to the club after the call, and a deputy told him Steve had been shot. Thomas then went to West Jefferson Medical Center but was unable to see his son. "The doctor said he did everything he could, but Steve was dead," Thomas testified in a shaky voice, wiping away tears. "I took all that junk he had on the wall and threw it in the garbage can," he said.

Despite Jordan's account, an associate of Miller's said he--not Miller--was responsible for the teen's murder last month.

A Louisiana judge has refused to postpone next month's trial. Prosecutors wanted a delay so they could investigate a claim by another man that he killed the teenager. Judge Hans Liljeberg ruled that prosecutors have less than two weeks to investigate allegations raised by Miller's attorney that associate Juan Flowers killed Steve Thomas on Jan. 12, 2002.
