What was supposed to be a celebratory moment quickly turned somber as Chicago Bulls basketball star Derrick Rose was overcome with emotion at the launch of his new Adidas D Rose 3 sneaker.
Rose, who hails from the tough Englewood section of Chicago shed tears as he spoke about the violence and murders that are plaguing the city.
"It's truly a blessing with all the stuff that is going on in the city," said Rose. "A kid from Englewood's got something positive going on. That makes me feel so good. This shoe is great. All this is great, but I can't explain this... To have true fans, that means a lot to me and I know it means a lot to my family. Because we don't supposed to be here at all. But God made a way"
Rose is hoping to be back on the court by the second half of 2012-13 season. He's currently rehabbing his surgically repaired knee. He tore his ACL last April in a playoff game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

we are losing as a people, as a whole. White kids look up to bankers, politicians etc. Black kids look up to athletes and rick ross the rapper. do the math, its easier to become a banker than a rap star or ball player. salute mr rose.
