R&B superstar Beyonce and her mom Tina Knowles know the importance of giving back to the community.
The two of them have opened up a beauty school at Phoenix House in Brooklyn, New York.
Phoenix House is a treatment center for recovering addicts. The beauty school will give some of them the opportunity to start a career after finishing the program there.
Recovering addict Sheri Hayes who has been clean and sober for over a year says, "It's a big difference to have some type of foundation in your life"
"It means a lot to me to just pick up my life and start fresh"
Besides opening the Beyoncé Cosmetology Center, B and her mom have promised to donate $100,000 annually to Phoenix House.
We see this type of poverty on our tv's on advertisements but most people don't actually see it in person so it doesn't impact as hard. I think its great to see someone like Fif with the resources to make a change and shed light on it…
