Actor Steven Seagal Takes Credit For Teaching Anderson Silva The Kick That Knocked Out Vitor Belfort. You Believe Him? [Video]

Video After The Jump

Wow, what a fight last night between Vitor Belfort and Anderson "The Spider" Silva.

Silva maintained his stranglehold on the middleweight division, defending his belt for the 8th time with a spectacular front kick knockout in the 1st round.

Belfort didn't seem to see the kick coming,

"He faked to the body and kicked to the head," Belfort said. "Anderson's a great fighter."

Actor Steven Seagal accompanied Silva to the ring and in a post-fight interview with Karyn Bryant was very vocal about having taught him the kick that won the fight.

"I couldn't have been happier because right before he walked out I said stay away from him for the first 2 or 3 minutes... just kind of get him frustrated and then fake low and come high and do that kick that I've been teaching you... and kick him to the head or the face. He did exactly what I said and exactly what I wanted to happen happened." Seagal said.

While I have no doubt Seagal has a relationship with Silva and probably trains with him, it's very unusual for a trainer to try to take credit for a victory like Seagal seemed to do.

Seagal went on to say it's a kick he learned 30-40 years ago in Japan and he's since been perfecting it.

Do you believe Silva learned that knockout kick from Steven Seagal?

a friend who was hit by a drunk driver and is now in a coma. Before I say anything else I do ask that you pray for her recovery.

I was recently interviewed by a west coast magazine, and just had the interview published to the mag site. If I get enough FB likes my interview will go into the actual magazine. The link is http://wwsmag.com/updates/bryant-c-caught-up-20-10/

I just ask that you take a look, and press like for me. I made it an honest interview so I'm sure that you will like it.

Martin Lawrence once called this guy, "The Kung Fu Elvis". I bet Belfort didn't expect Silva to come forth with the left leg. Obviously

Steven Seagal laughed when someone asked him who would win in a fight between him and Van Dame. Seagal is nobody to play with.

Seagal has been training Silva since Silva's fight with Chael Sonnen. His style is Akido. It's a passive art and almost always requires the opponent to strike first. Silva's style is a bit more passive as he always waits for his opponent to make a move before he counter strikes. That front snap kick is a basic karate or even tae kwon do kick. It's rarely used as a head kick in most mma bouts. Seagal is still very fast and he is a really big guy as well. I saw a clinic that he did at Las Vegas Akido and he called multiple guys out of the crowd to attempt to strike his face at full speed. He instructed them not to hold back. 4 guys went at him at the same time at full speed. He semi gently put 3 of them on their backs and grabbed the 4th in a modified rear choke and used him as a shield from the other 3 as they got to their feet and then squeezed the 4th guys neck until he tapped. the 150 people in the gym went nuts. He may be arrogant, a bit narcissistic and an alleged woman beater but I wouldn't f*ck that dude.
