The upcoming BET Hip Hop Awards awards may have a fairly epic surprise in store.
Sources familiar with the situation have told Complex that 50 Cent and Fat Joe will share the stage at Saturday evening's taping of the show during a tribute performance to the late founder of Violator management—and a trusted advisor of both artists—Chris Lighty.
The tribute will also feature Violator acts Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliott performing a medley of their hits. BET's Vice President of Communications Tracy McGraw refused to confirm the details of Complex's report. When asked if BET could deny the same thing, McGraw explained: "That's a good question. I think we'll just go with 'Could not confirm.'"
Fat Joe and 50 Cent have a storied rivalry, and 50 recently said Lighty's death would not sway him to end the beef with Fat Joe.
"Nah. You know what I think? A lot of times it's people who choose not to like you," Fif said on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show.
"Regardless, they could be across the street from you, they don't have to have a conversation or have anything to be a source of why they feel that way about you. You can't fix it in conversation with some of these people so I don't even look to resolve any of that. I just move forward without focusing on it," he continued.
The BET Hip-Hop Awards will be taped this weekend at the Boisfeuillet Jones Civic Center in Atlanta. They air Tuesday, October 9.
