Drake Breaks Apple Music & Spotify Streaming Records With “More Life”

Drake has done it again! After being revealed some days ago as the first artist to hit 10 billion streams on Spotify, Drizzy has broken two new Spotify records following the release of More Life.

More Life has set a new record for best first-day streams for an album, racking up over 61.3 million streams in its first full day, while the Toronto rapper himself set the record for best one-day streams from an artist, with more than 76.3 million streams in a single day.

The previous record holder for both records was Ed Sheeran, with his new album Divide, which dropped earlier this month.

UPDATE:

According to The Verge, “More Life” was streamed 89.9 million times on Apple Music during the first 24 hours of availability, breaking the single-day album streams record for every music service

More Life playlist has also given UK artists such as Giggs, Jorja Smith and Skepta, a huge streaming boost with U.S. audiences. According to BBC, streams of Giggs's music by U.S. subscribers increased by 146% over the weekend and after the release of the playlist project. Streams of Skepta's music jumped up 21%, while Jorja Smith saw a gain of 12% in streams on the service.

still funny to me how people think streaming and someone buying an album is even close to the same thing. one you sit on your phone or computer click a button and have a listen. you mightile the artist you might not whatever just click and listen. the other you would actually have to get up off your a** take yourself down to hmv Wal-Mart or whatever place sells cds and actually lay down some money and invest in the artist. so whwn i hear streaming numbers it does t really mean anything to me. I'll accept digital album sales and hard copies purchased as the numbers
