Metro Police said rapper Wiz Khalifa was cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession in Nashville on Saturday after investigators were called to his hotel room at the Holiday Inn on West End Avenue at about 8 p.m.

Wiz Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Thomaz, 24, was in town to perform at Vanderbilt University's Rites of Spring concert, where he was the headliner.

Police said the front desk staff at the hotel called police and reported that they'd received several complaints about marijuana use in room 725, where the rapper was staying.

The front desk staff told investigators that they'd been up to the room and told the rapper and another man, Lonnie Howard, 27, about the complaints, police said.

Once officers arrived and went up to the seventh floor of the hotel, they smelled marijuana, knocked on the door to the room and when the door was opened, they saw the rapper throw a marijuana blunt out the window, police said.

When asked if there was any more marijuana in the room, both Thomaz and Howard said there wasn't, but police later found more marijuana on Howard, police said.

Both suspects later admitted to having the marijuana and were cited for the misdemeanor possession, police said.

They have until May 14 to show up at the Davidson County courthouse for booking on the charges.

According to Thomaz's Twitter account, he left Nashville on Sunday and has been in New York this week.

marijuana being illeagle actually creates more jobs. if it was legalized it would just be the govt or a few big companies producing it like cigarettes. there would be so many rules and regulations all the everyday people who grow a few plants today to supplement their incomes would be pushed out of the biz

Exactly @Son I agree but the GOV doesn't see it like that.. they want in on all the $ too
@Slim you would be surprised at how much money they make off of it already remember half of them (gov) are also dealers as well..how many police/politicians in your town (all states in general) are dealers would surprise you, or maybe it wouldn't, they don't want to make it legal there is more money under the table for them if they don't ...feel me?...bust big rings take all their $ & all their drugs all their cars & homes... businesses, guns etc... half that sh*t is not in the police evidence rooms they have pushed it back in the streets and they are themselves making the money back by illegal means... I agree should be legal its a natural herb its not a man made drug like crack cocaine...although coca is also a natural God made plant (created for a good cause) but people misuse these substances & create harsher drugs... there is a formula to not making it legal which helps gov more than legalizing it does...
