Nicki Minaj has made no secret that she grew up in a very dysfunctional household, but her recent admission that she wanted to kill her father because he abused her mother has left him gutted.

During an interview last week on ABC's 'Nightline' show, Minaj told Juju Chang that her dad Omar was a dope fiend and alcoholic with a violent temper.

"We were afraid for my mother's life because whenever he would have a real bad outburst he would threaten to kill her." Nicki said "I wanted to kill [my dad]. I wished he was dead.

TMZ is reporting that family members are now coming to Omar's defense, insisting Nicki exaggerated the amount of violence in their household.

While admitting that he did have a bad temper, Omar claims things never reached the level Nicki described. Omar says he still loves his daughter despite the picture she is painting of him in the media.
