Diggy Simmons Speaks On Low Sales Of His Debut Album 'Unexpected Arrival' [Video]
Diggy Simmons' debut album moved 21,000 copies it's first week out to land at No. 13 on the Billboard 200. Not a failure considering the slugging market for album sales, but not quite what the newcomer had hoped to sell.
Karen Civil recently caught up with Diggy to address his album and the 17-year old had a refreshing, mature attitude about it.
"It’s about growth. You look at a whole bunch of people. Look at Reasonable Doubt, when that first came out, that wasn’t anything. And look at Jay now. You could look at Bruno [Mars] recently. When Doo Wops & Hooligans came out, like 50,000 first work and ended up going double plat," he said. "It’s about growth for me. I’m happy that the people who are listening to it are loving it. It’s like having an impact on your life and making them want to aspire to be whatever it is they want to be. Because that’s what Unexpected Arrival is about, it’s about making your arrival in life special. No matter what people say or if they don’t know what you’re capable of. It starts with the belief in you before you try to go and look for other people’s approval. I’m happy that it’s doing that for people."

Maybe it's because he is selling to the public something that they heard before...Their is nothing spectacular about him or his music.......The music should always speak for itself...Nicki Minaj re-opened the lane for female rappers and she made a killing...If people want your product then they shall support it. Low Sales mean, Low quality

I agree too with Mike G. In addition, for his age he understands his position,he's humble and understands the business side of the current state hip-hop....

i blame it on his fanbase...hit fanbase is the youth..the youths budget is dependents on the parent for the most part..if i had a daughter and she wanted to buy his cd i'd tell her...DOWNLOAD THAT S***....im not paying my hard earned RECCESION EARNED MONEY on sum cd...thats just me tho..im old fashioned..hes a gud artist tho..he has a buzz they just didnt buy...idk why..[U.$.C]

I agree with Mike G, Diggy came in doing his own thing and then kinda jumped over to doing what Drake is doing, which I thought was funny seeing as he dropped that Copy/Paste song.

I think If people started doing there own thing instead of trying to follow industry standards, sells would be better. Too many of these new rappers sound the same. Too many of them sound a little like drake. Not saying diggy is trying to copy drake but his style is similar. We need the "flow" back in hip hop. not this cash money bs everybody is trying to do. they are not that good. they make pop songs. i want to hear hip hop. thank God we still got rappers keeping hip hop alive

just proves you can be born into all the right circumstances for success. At the end of the day the people chose who they going to buy into. He got flow, sad thing is ten years ago he would have went platinum out the gate.
