While Allen Iverson sits at home hoping to get a call from an NBA team in need of his services a Georgia judge has seized his bank account in an effort to force him to pay off a huge debt.
Iverson owes Aydin & Company Jewelers a significant sum of money after failing to pay for jewelry he got from the company according to TMZ.
The initial debt was for $375,000, which A.I. failed to pay forcing Aydin & Company to sue him. When Iverson didn't respond to the lawsuit, the jewelry store won a default judgement for $859,896.46 which covered the jewelry bill, court costs, interest and attorney fees.
Iverson ignored the judgement, forcing a judge to garnish his wages and take control of his Wells Fargo bank account. Any money the former All-Star guard makes will go directly to Aydin & Company until the debt is paid off.
The 36-year old Iverson made $154 million dollars during his 14 seasons in the NBA according to Sporting News, including $20 million in 2008-2009. He's been out of the league since the 2009-2010 season.
