David Banner Responds To V-Nasty Dissing Him & Her Use Of The N-Word "What The F*ck Is Enough? It's Like Anything With Our Culture Now Is For Sale" [Video]

"Got more bricks than houses in Atlanta/Damn how a white b*tch more hood than David Banner?" - V-Nasty 'Food Plug'

David Banner was a guest on Shade 45's "Sway in the Morning" show yesterday (December 21). The Mississippi rapper heard V-Nasty's diss aimed towards him for the very first time when Sway played it for him. It left him wondering what has happened to the hip hop culture. He sees things being said and done now that he feels shouldn't be accepted.

V-Nasty's verse appears on the song 'Food Plug' which also features Gucci Mane. It was most likely a response to a song Banner released earlier this year titled 'Swag.' Many people thought he was talking about V-Nasty when he rapped the line, "the homies is busting slugs, the women is shaking a**/The white girls call us "n*gga" and just sit back and laugh and call it "Swag, swag, swag!"

"It don't bother me at all," Banner said after hearing V-Nasty's diss. "The problem with hip hop is people try to act a certain way and they put it on they sleeves. The stuff that I did that was hood I can't talk about it on a record. It's funny when people tell these kids to be hood and they don't stay in the hood. They give these kids the mentality of staying in the hood and that shows you what other cultures think about us as black people, and how they try to play us as black men against each other. Because the sad thing about it is--at the end of the day I'm the big mean black guy. Regardless of how articulate I am. If I move any kind of way I will always be crucified," Banner continued. "So, what I realized as black people we need to stop letting people play our culture like that. It's not up to me to feel a certain way. I feel bad for the people that allow other people to do this to our culture. I shouldn't have to say anything, this should be handled."

Banner went on to say the song 'Swag' wasn't about V-Nasty to begin with.

"And I said I wasn't going to speak about her. I wasn't going to call her name. I'm not ever gonna say this girl's name. But what I will say--the funny thing about it, the record was never about her," Banner told Sway and Devi Dev. "It was never about her, it was about what we accept as people. I'm more concerned with the people that's around her that allow her to feel comfortable enough to do that. It's actually sad to me. And it's sad that we as a people accept that. I actually feel sorry--not just for her, but just for the whole situation in general. I was actually one of the people that kept folks off of her. I was one of the people that said, 'nah bruh that's a little girl.' We deal on another level than just rap. Even on a business level [people called] like 'dude, what do you want us to do?'. I said I don't want you to do nothing because I honestly believe that she don't know no better," he explained. "The plight between our races is so much bigger than her. I don't even think she knows the ramifications and the pain of the word, especially coming from Mississippi. Especially in the south. And then for people to tell us I don't care what you think. You mean to tell me you're in our culture, using our culture, making money off our culture and you don't care about what the people think? Her people were not hung from trees and forced to accept the word n*gger. We had to internalize the word because we couldn't get away from it, we were slaves. And people forget their history dude. Being in Hollywood and being around certain cultures, that if you say certain things that they say, then your movies start flying, the lights start going out. The thing I want people to know is when is it enough? If it aint the word n*gga what about the disrespecting of God? Because now our culture has gotten to the point where if it's popping and it's making money then it's acceptable. What's not acceptable? What is enough? I can't say what it is, but what the f*ck is enough? It's like anything with our culture now is for sale."

....and @Gwest not a single person alive was a victim of the true slavery that took place at the hands of 'White' people...I think what your referring to is segragation which is just as horrid and unacceptable but in itself is a completely different situation....I also find it ignorant when people try to hold angst and bias against people that share in no way a direct connection or belief of a group of people or 'CULTURE' of the past that they neither experienced first hand nor were directly affected by in any way...

------->Continued...
Now how many times have you heard someone 'BLACK' refer to a close white friend as their 'N****'??? Happens all the time and is the blatant proof that there is no color attatched to the term...
In the case of V-Nasty this album is a joint album with a 'BLACK' artist who appearently takes no offense to her use of the word....
V-Nasty in my opinion has zero talent or creative ability as does Gucci Maine in my opinion but the thing that gets me is that anyone (most people who hear her 'MUSIC') that does not like her uses this as their main point.
The use of this term is a choice and the common argument by her supporters is that she uses it because of the environment she was brought up in which then leads me to point out that any ...if not all...other successfull (I dont consider her 'successful' but bear with me) 'WHITE' artists do not use the term openly or in their music...
My overall point im trying to make is that if a group of people use a term in quantities that this term is used in their art...weather that be music or film/movies/tv...with the majority of the paying audience being a different race/color...profit from its use then turn around and critsise/condemn those using it makes you a hypocrit in every sense.
V-Nasty is talentless as is Gucci Maine and I am confident he is f*****' her and is the only reason he supports her but at the end of the day your argument is meaningless and extremely flawed.
@icantstop when you say our culture what exactly do you mean??? Because culture has nothing to do with race.Culture is a way of life and bears no direct connection with skin color and is more a reference to lifestyle....
So in conclusion the point I am making is that so many people generalise the 'BLACK' 'AFRICAN-AMERICAN' and 'HIP-HOP' cultures and are themselves actually unaware of which they fall in....if any but are quick to slam others they personally feel dont fit 'THEIR' definition of what these cultures mean even though in many cases do not fully understand what makes someone a member of these cultures in the first place...

Comment by D*** Nasty on December 22, 2011 at 9:01pm
OK I need someone to explain this to me....why is it that everytime someone says 'n****' in some way that somehow 'offends' someone that they instantly bring up slavery???? GET OVER IT!!!! Now before you dismiss my point as racist or ignorant let me explain my reasoning....
1) Anyone remember pearl harbor/hiroshima????? Now how long ago was that??? Now is it not funny that Japan and the U.S. are now allies and are integral parts of eachothers economies? Sure there is most likely hard feelings from veterans or families of...but needless to say on each side the past has been put behind us.
2) The term/phrase 'N****' is a slang referance to the word 'N*****' that is in most modern cultures a racist and degrading term towards the african american community.'N****' is commonly used as referance and also a term of endearment within the 'black' community.
With that said I am so sick of hearing 'blacks' warrant that 'N****' is 'THEIR' word because if you want to get technical the fact that 'N****' is basically a take on the word 'N*****' which is a racist term towards African Americans that was created by 'Whites' then logically it is 'Our' word...( I say 'OUR' because I am 'WHITE' not to actually infer ownership/use of the term)...The funny thing is that 'BLACKS' use it so frequently and fluently then immediatly turn on anyone not considered their 'COLOR' or 'RACE' and immediatly label them as 'Racist'...I say this knowing that the word is used everyday by many people of multiple origins in a racist manner and I am in no way trying to justify the degrading use of the term....

I understand why she shouldnt say it...but only out of respect... Ignorant people say things...It will never change. If people would stop giving words so much power and LET them effect you things would be better. S*** rappers have been saying stuff about whites since day one... Yet whites are the majority of people buying the albums.... Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Katt... all comedians make fun of white people but if you hear a white guy say a black joke or say something about the the black culture its a no no.... Why do you think Dave Chappelles skits making fun of black people were such huge hits? Nobody else had the balls to do it. I think people need to stop being so sensitive, stop giving these negative words the power you are. And the word is such a huge part of society (movies, music) you cant expect people not to say it. I dont want to hear white people saying it but if i do.. all I think is... ignorant.... AND If people want to be so sensitive about the word... why are Puerto Ricans, Asians, pretty much anyone with a tan ok saying it? Dont see Banner calling out Fat Joe... Eminem HUGE, Yela popular, MGK popular.....Never use the word... V-Nasty...here today gone tomorrow... she uses it...ignorance
