Game Publishers May Force PS3 To Cut Prices
Bloomberg is touching upon one of those big questions that we're ALL asking, quite honestly: When will the PlayStation 3 be cheaper?!
According to the article, the company is facing increasing pressure to trim the price for the 80GB console from $399. That price currently sits $150 above the Nintendo Wii and $200 above the cheapest Xbox 360.
Championing this price cut in a recession heavy time is Peter Moore, head of EA Sports. Moore says that Sony "has a ways to go with their pricing." Alex Evans, producer of PS3 exclusive, LittleBigPlanet, echoed similar sentiments regarding the PS3.
Here are some of those thoughts expressed in a recent interview with Gamasutra:
"They've had all these, you know, SingStars and the EyeToy games. They've had their casual gaming audience on the PS2, and they have to translate that over to PS3 now. As they do that, I'll be very happy with that, because that's how I see PS3 growing. That's why I'm kind of comfortable with it for now... As soon as they drop their price, ho ho ho. (laughs) I shouldn't say that, but it's true. I mean, you know..."
A representative from Sony tells Bloomberg the company has no immediate plans to reduce prices. If the prices DO get cut for the PS3, is it worth it to buy it amongst staunch competition like the Wii or Xbox 360?

oh ya and for the xbox u gotta buy an external hd hardrive which is ugly anyways i mean who wants a bunch of accessories laying around infront of ur tv when u just need a ps3 and a satellite box.

Ya but how many xbox 360 have u been through???? Cuz i know like 4 people that been through like 2 or 3 and 1 dude had to like 4 cuz it kept breaking. Watch out for that red circle! suckas ahahahaha and ps3 isnt even that expensive 399.99 for an 80g blueray/free online/bluetooth/hdmi/1080p,1080i,720p,wifi and reads all disc formats. You guys are clowns!

Ps3 all day!! Got it in Dec. 08 and f**** with it! Sony is and always will be the s***. 1080p Sony 52" Plasma tv to go with that b**** too. Broke muthafuckas need to get your weigh up thats all. 360 & WII is for the birds!!! ONE.
