- After releasing his debut independent album "Unbreakable", smoothvega manifested from an emerging artist to an award winning recording artist (2006 & 2007 Fort Worth Weekly Award Winner : Best Rap/R&B Artist). Nothing short of a visionary, smoothvega predicted that he would one day be on the platform that is set for the release of his forthcoming nationwide release "3.10.85". With a new more mature sound intact, smoothvega is ready to capitalize on the cult following he has created off his body of work.
smoothvega has been quoted as saying, "I compare my career to one of that of a boxer. Anything before my LP (Unbreakable) was my amateur career. (Unbreakable) career wise to me was my first 18 professional bouts, all though I was young it conditioned me and taught me my limitations on what I can do and what I can’t do. With the new album (3.10.85) it’s crunch time, I done stepped up another notch and I’m ready for that championship fight. My debut project showed glances and potential but what the new album is going to display is legitimacy and greatness in the making because I’ve trained that hard to prepare me for that".
If the guest appearances lined up for "3.10.85" are any indication of who smoothvega is sparring and training with, then we are all in for a hell of a bout considering that he recruited one of the all time great lyricists in Chino XL on the song "Walk With Me", as well as highly respected lyricists Crooked I, Royce Da 5’9, & Sinful (El Pecador of Tha Mexakinz) all of whom are set to be featured on "3.10.85". Aiming for the pound for pound title, there is nothing that’s going to stand in the way of smoothvega as he is creating one of the most decorated résumés for an emerging independent artist.

the grammys is only voted by the industry, not the people. but that doesn't mean some of the music on there isn't good. i mean look at today, Nicki, Drake or Lil Wayne didn't win anything so that shows anybody can win.
