Imagine, if you will, all the aforementioned qualities blended with empowering strength of motherhood, the enduring edge and resilience that comes with a life of dealing with struggle and hardships, the sassiness and sex appeal of a vibrant vixen, and the business savvy of dealing with the who’s who of the industry. If one could possibly wrap their mind around this image, you have just envisioned hip-hop’s new female icon, Passion. This female lyricist is poised to bring anarchy to the game with her two mixtapes, “Fight to the Finish” and “Born & Raised.” Born and raised in NY, Passion life’s reads like a classic tale from an E True Hollywood story. As we all know, New York is a city where dreams are made but also demolished under the unforgiving hard times that exist within its boroughs. Passion is no stranger to both dynamics of the city’s culture. As a product of a stick-up kid father . At the age of 15 years old, Passion was forced to leave the Bronx and move to Westchester . She would also fell victim to the seducing elements of the street life despite her grandmother’s efforts to keep her sheltered from the harsh realities of life. It was through her poetry and time spent with the Ruff Ryders crew that Passion found a way to cope. Through years of struggling, hustling, and grinding in the streets of New York, she would experience everything from the lows of abuse, addiction, death, and false promises to the extreme highs of acceptance from the culture she loved, self-empowerment, childbirth and ultimately marriage. It was through her tragedies and industry connections that she found her voice. After brief stints with other groups, Passion came to the understanding that if she wanted to make it in this game, then she had to stand alone. She was once told her that she was too hard. Those that were intimidated by her lyrical prowess told her she was too lyrical to be a female. A&R’s love her but can’t quite figure out how to explain this incredible woman. Now taking matters into her own hands, the lady known as, Passion Da’Vinche is taking the industry over by any means necessary. What is absolutely necessary is that this female juggernaut needs to be heard. She has performed with the likes of KRS One, Afrika Bambaataa, the Ruff Ryders, and a host of others. Although she may be a rookie to the masses, Passion is definitely a seasoned vet in the game without the veteran recognition. With two new mixtapes, “Fight to the Finish” and “Born & Raised,” slated for release in 2010, Passion is poised to show the complex diversity of being an empowered woman in today’s society. She is a strong voice in the industry; she is a mother, a wife, a survivor, and most importantly she is the definition of the word Passion. --
