Born in Petersburg, VA to a mother whom was in the military, Yung’n had to get used to moving around and adapting quickly. Never really having time to make friends he would turn to books as entertainment. As a young child, he was always quick with learning songs by hearing them only a couple of times. By age 14, he had already been to at least 5 different countries. This was also the age in which he started to write his own rhymes. At the age 15, he formed a group with a few friends who won many talent shows throughout eastern and central Ga. Around that time, his stage name was Cataclysm, Due to problem with the law and school, he was sent to live with his father in South Carolina where he realized the importance of his lyrical depth. Through his high school years, he was moved back and forth between SC and GA. At the age of 19, he decided to change his stage name to Chozen 1. By the age of 20 he realized that he needed a change and would have to move to his mother’s hometown of Clairton in the Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania. Once again, he changed his stage name from Chozen 1 to Yung’n (Which he felt was better because someone had already taken Chozen 1). In 2004, he met with an up and coming rapper Young HounD, and together formed a group named Stand Tall Fam (S.T.F) in which started them on their way to making songs together and shaping their first official mix tape. In late 2006, he met Fetti after performing at a local spot in Pittsburgh. Fetti produced and mixed Yung’n’s solo mix tape. Yung’n’s mix tape is titled “Take It 2 da Streets Vol. 1”, it was released early 2007. In August of 2008, he released a second mixtape which is titled "Ti2ds vol. 2: revenge of the trak murderer". He is currently working on other various projects
