Like an iceberg that moves through water; suddenly hitting you before it comes into full view, that’s what Tomeka Pearl will do to you! At just the tender age of 21, this young woman has broken the mold. With the swagger of a rapper, this singer/songwriter has dedicated her passion for music to the “upliftment” of women in music.
Some may say this Texas native has the attributes of a man in this masculine-driven industry, but she’s not conceited, she’s convinced! Tomeka Pearl is determined to be more than just a pretty face. She wants to be taken seriously as an artist and strong women that’s not afraid to say what’s on her mind.
Tomeka Pearl graduated early from high school to pursue her aspirations to be a full time artist. The road was not easy and she had to endure long hours of vocal training, acting school and working to make the ends meet. And the struggle still continues, but Tomeka Pearl has taken all the bumps and bruises of her hardships in life and love with all the elegant style, poise and maturity of a true star!
There’s an old saying that says, “Circumstances makes us who we are…” Tomeka Pearl was forged in fire to sing songs that will touch young women from the ghettos to the suburbs with a message of power strength, sensuality and intelligence. Growing up wasn’t easy for the young sultry singer. Like her peers, her childhood endured family issues and problems. As a young lady in high school, she always stuck out as “different” because she was so young to be in high school at a young age; because of this, Tomeka spent a lot of her time in the solidarity of her own mind with music as her refuge.
Her music is a triumph of the hardships that carved the destiny of her existence. After the tragic death of her beloved cousin on her birthday, Tomeka Pearl dedicated her life to not letting their dreams die. Often, Tomeka sits alone and reminisces over their talks of pursing music careers together. After his death, Tomeka redirected that pain into the drive which influenced her to make this dream a reality!
