Andre Carter a.k.a. The K.I.D. a.k.a. "The King of 16" was born and raised in the country in Central VA, but his hustle wouldn’t let him stay there very long. The K.I.D. always had a love for music, hip-hop and soul in particular. As a child his mother spun wax of Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind & Fire, Al Green, and countless others daily. His grandfather played the blues and his father could hold a tune vocally so at an early age KID knew what good music was and his talent was obvious even then. Although he wrote for years, KID didn’t actually grab a mic an spit until he moved to Newport News VA as a teen to pursue his dreams. After partnering up with NC writer/rapper DialTone, VA producer Water Water, and VA rapper DiBiase, KID decided it was time for the world to witness his love for hip-hop. In 2006 he opened Common Wealth Entertainment independently to introduce the world to REAL hip-hop and R&B. KID’s style cannot be compared to any other rapper although he credits Tupac, Jay-Z, Nas, and Andre 3000 as being his drive. KID blends Southern hip-hop with an East Coast flow. His writing and delivery are platinum-bound. He is a lyricist first and an entertainer second, but he can do it all from club bangers to meaningful reality trips. The K.I.D.’s name comes from the accolades that he’s always gotten from being the youngest doing it as good as he does at 25 y.o., and it’s also an acronym for Killer Instinct and Determination. KID is currently performing, battling, and working on the debut album with his partner in crime DiBiase and beatmaker Water Water. His goals are to first show VA why he’s going to put the state at the top of charts and then to show all the majors why they need to holla at him.
