Although DMX has spent the last few years making more headlines for his run-ins with the law and prison stints than for his music, hip-hop fans have yet to give up hope that the former Def Jam recording artist will get his life back on track and get back to cranking out hit music. Recently, I caught up with X’s…See More
Uhhh, not too sure about this one….Kanye’s boo Amber Rose showed up earlier today at The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino where she hosted a Tao Beach Party wearing ice blue contacts. This latest experiment with fashion by the ex-stripper is venturing dangerously close to the trying so hard to be different only to end up looking ridiculous area. Although Ms. Rose has inspired me…See More
Last weekend, I got the opportunity to talk to Day 26, and one of the topics we touched on was Diddy’s reputation. From the release of Mark Curry’s book Dancing with the Devil earlier this year, to Yung Joc’s very public displeasure with Bad Boy, it is understandable why I wanted their perspective on this issue. Unsurprisingly (and despite rumors that they had to…See More
According to Contact Music News, Jay-Z believes hip-hop has improved race relations in this country. Here’s how he put it:“It has changed America immensely… hip-hop has done more than any leader, politician, or anyone to improve race relations. Racism is taught in the home… and it’s very hard to teach racism to a teenager who idolizes, say, Snoop Dogg. It’s hard to say, ‘That guy is less than you.’ The kid is like, ‘I like that guy, he’s cool. How is he less than me?’“That’s why this generation…See More
The Hip Hop Socialite is a professional model/hostess based out of New York City. She began her modeling career in her hometown of Wilmington, NC when she started doing background work in TV shows and movies such as "Dawson's Creek", "Black Knight", and "A Domestic Disturbance", to name a few.
Since her arrival in New York City, she has been a featured model on Maxim (Magazine) Radio twice (Sirius Satellite), worked as a spokesmodel for companies such as Remy Martin, Georgi Vodka, Smirnoff Ice, and Hennessy (among others), been featured on websites such as musicablack.com, worked with Blue Ice Models (recipient of the 2008 Underground Music Award for Best Modeling Agency), and worked with networks such as the CW (CW11 News Black Tie Boxing At Cipriani's Promo Spot), MTV3 (MTV3's Sucker Free Latino), HBO and ESPN (various boxing matches).
The Hip Hop Socialite's future plans include to continue co-hosting NYC's XTV (www.xquizitproductions.com), to continue working as one of only a handful of African American ring girls in the sport of professional boxing, and to continue hosting events for clubs such as Vesta, Guesthouse, and organizations such as the National Kidney Foundation. Next up is her co-hosting gig at a Ryan Leslie event at Cebu Lounge in Philly and a feature in Rolling Out Urban Weekly.
Fun Fact: The nickname "The Hip Hop Socialite" was given to her by a pioneering hip hop MC because of a combination of factors: her southern upbringing, her work in the hip hop industry working for a major label and as a independent music professional, her social circle (which include everyone from pioneers of hip hop, to unsigned artists), and her attendance at many industry related events around the city.
