Born and raised in San Antonio, Tx producer Rodolfo Cortez a.k.a ILL INTENT has been a fan of hip-hop music & its culture since he stole his first album from his uncle. “I remember the first rapper I ever heard was Ice-T. I had stole my uncles cassette I think it was the Iceberg album. I aint gonna lie I don’t remember much of it but i remember hearing t's voice & the hard ass beats he was rhyming on. Man that sh** changed my whole world @ that age." After figuring out that this was something that definitely had a long lasting effect on him Ill went on @ the age of nine to try & emulate the path of the rappers he would see on rap city & yo mtv raps. Fortunately for him he came from a gang of uncles & cousins who were notorious gangbangers themselves. Ill's uncles steered him away from the so called "life". On the the downside, Ill also saw those same cousins & uncles downfall @ the hand of the S.A.P.D. Tired of seeing her children exposed to excessive violence & drug usage. Ills mother up and left the area before things got far worse. It was about 1994 when the cortez family found and settled down in a quiet suburban neighborhood just outside of Buffalo, Ny . After years of feeling he didn't fit in to the suburban dream that most people from the hood strive for, Ill started to stray away & try to find that feeling of acceptance & unity, so after dropping out of high school he met up with a guy who was an aspiring rapper & because they shared similar backgrounds they quickly bonded & formed a team of other rappers from the neighborhood. They called themselves click-1 & began battling everyone from every hood . Although they began to gain a name for themselves, the group never dropped any albums & disbanded around the early 2000's. Determined not to fade away & let everything he worked for vanish, Ill regrouped with the core members of the click which included members Toney 2x & Sammy Sosa. Around 2006 the trio formed a new group by the name of the last disciples. Pending an armed robbery charge, they will release tony 2x debut album entitled "Playtime Is Over" in the summer of 2009. The next move is to put out the last mixtape which will introduce the trio to the Western New York market & will also be promoted via the web to any & every mixtape site available. While group members having court cases are pending, time is running short. Ill manages to keep busy by trying his hand @ production & has landed placements on B.E.T & worked with established a&r's such as Kevin Mitchell the CEO of Kevlar Ent. He also is working with a company named Deadly Dreams Music to land more placements on t.v. shows , video games, etc.. and has also produced a single for 2006 direct impact award winning gospel rapper C.B.
Recently Ill visited the One Stop Shop Conference in Phoenix, AZ & is positioning himself to make a transition into commercial label productions. With his impeccable determination & persistence, no one can argue that Ill Intent has not been on his grind. Coming from nothing & gradually taking what's rightfully his Ill is planning a long and strenuous journey to success.
