RoK CitY attended studio sessions and shows; watching how the music professionals work. Loving every aspect of the business and creating music, she knew she had to find her place within it.
In her teen years, RoK CitY did street promotion for her childhood friends “The Bomb Squad” by selling mix tapes. After the group got a record deal with Bad Boy Entertainment they changed their name to “The Lox”. CitY was in a rap group as well called “3 Wild Children” with two male artist. In the late 90’s, RoK CitY enjoyed going to clubs such as “The Tunnel, Palladium and Webster Hall” watching performances and networking with music professionals. Following that venture she interned at Relitivity Records (which is now Loud Records), Stress Management (platformed clubs and dj’s) along with Refugee Camp Entertainment.
Early 2000, CitY was offered by her long time friend from Queens Bridge, Sha Luminati, to co-host with him on Marley Marl’s “Future Flavas Online Network- Luminati Radio“. One year later Marley Marl offered CitY to dj and host her own radio show on Future Flavas Online Network and named it “ROK/C‘s Top 10 Countdown“ playing classic hip hop, unsigned/signed artist, 80‘s pop, RnB, slow jams and rock music. CitY brought forth the sassy, valley girl approach with street foundation. Her show became very popular on the network with increasing listeners globally. In addition, RoK CitY posses a business background which led her to become the “go-to girl” if you wanted to book Marley Marl or have any involvement with Future Flavas Online Network.
In any event, Marley Marl offered her another opportunity late 2009 to be apart of a new radio show to do online marketing and as one of his co-host on NYC’s #1 market radio 107.5 WBLS “Golden Era Radio”. Months later RoK CitY excelled in her position and became the Assistant Producer for “Golden Era Radio”.
