PRIM, was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia, and recently moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue his career in music. He grew up in a home with his mother, father, and sister until age 7 when his mother died. Her death was a tragic and painful event that left a profound effect on the rest of Prim’s life. Following his mother’s death, his sister moved to another city to live with her father. His dad was a truck driver and traveled most of the time, so Prim spent his childhood moving from home to home, living with aunt and outsiders. His unconventional adolescent years made Prim grow up fast and become independent far more quickly than his peers. While he enjoyed normal youth hobbies like playing football and hanging out with his friends and sister, Prim always felt like he was different from other kids and always enjoyed spending time alone. As a child Prim wanted to become a truck driver like his father, but his career goals changed in his teenage years. At the age of 15, a friend wrote a rap verse for him. Prim liked it so much that he decided to start writing his own. Initially, people did not take him seriously and would laugh at his rhymes. When he was 16, he was locked up in Salem, a juvenile facility after a run-in with the law. However, he did not get discouraged. Prim felt as though he had found his niche in music and continued to write and improve. He soon got better and people began to admire him for his rap skills. When he was 17, he and a friend were asked to perform at a local Christian youth rally for troubled teens. While he only had 4 days to prepare for what would be his first real performance, he accepted the challenge. The performance proved to be a huge success. Prim felt at home on the stage and loved the attention he received from the crowd. On this day, Prim The Rapper was born. Prim cites his biggest influence in rap to be Tupac a.k.a. Makaveli. When I first heard Me Against the World, I remember thinking that Tupac felt just like I did and was seeing the same things I saw each day. Prim says. Prim creates music now so that his audiences will get that same feeling when listening to his music. While he is also a fan of Biggie, Nas, Snoop Dogg, and Young Jeezy, and others Prim states he would most like to perform with JayZ. ..Lyrically he is the best rapper alive, he states. Prim is passionate about his own music and declares that he has a lot to say. He describes his music as music that people want to hear, need to hear. When asked to describe his personality, he declares there are two distinct sides to him. First there is a Prim, a man whose goal is to make a name for himself as a successful rap artist and businessman. Then there is Percy Jones, a renegade outsider from Huntington, West Virginia who has nothing to lose. Percy strives to live each day as Prim.
