Forest City's bred rap lyricist LAtruth is in a hurry. He dropped his sophomore album, Tha Truth Hurts the follow up to his near platinum debut Latruth World Order, he has his thoughts firmly placed on the business of delivering his new album, Hate Iz Fuel. This is the one right here. I know everybody says that, but I dont plan on really doing this that much longer. Im trying to go behind the scenes, says LAtruth. However, while his thoughts allude to calling it a career (doubtful), his actions speak to the contrary. The past year has found Latruth continually in rap listeners ears via a slew of stand out, cameo verses. With rap fans notoriously impatient when artists have long hiatus between albums, the importance of a rapper staying on the radar between albums is essential. No matter what budget is being opened or whats going on in the office, you gotta keep your head above water in the street, explains LAtruth. You always gotta find out whats coming out, hop on the hot R&B song or a remix or even do a hot featuring with another rapper.
Whether its on mixtapes, appearing in rap battles or guest spots, the streets never have to hunt very far for the next scorching LAtruth verse. The past year alone has found him riding shotgun and spitting alongside rap heavyweights that include Nas (Hip Hop is Alive Remix), 112's (Peaches and cream Remix), The Game (Know what it is) and Jay-z (Spread Love). Besides the stand out verses, LAtruth also caught the video bug appearing in the feature DVD Rep Yo City with Dj Battle and Many more standout underground artist, the Rep yo City DVD film Hosted by Dj Battle is Creating a major buzz for LAtruth and other artist with standout talent. LAtruth was also the feature on urban radio where he did a live freestyle, and was interviewd about his partnership with The Game and Black Wallstreet. An exhaustive portfolio but its all old hat for LAtruth, after all, he is a rap veteran in all definitions of the word. In 2000 he was a member of the Band MASH (Money, Ambuniton, Sex, Hostility. When the relationship eventually soured, the Four brothers LAtruth (Robert Hampton), Bangkoc (Anthony Lawrence) Duke (Adrian Jackson), and Grand Finale (Kevin Wesley) in a sense, returned to diffrent homes and city's to begin solo careers.
Where Latruth world order was a critically acclaimed debut that confirmed LAtruth's ability to hold down an album for self, Hate iz Fuel will further establish Truth as one of the rap games elite lyricist. I learned about trying different things, is what LAtruth says occurred between albums, besides the song cameos and Rap Battle gigs. Champions make champions. You cant be scared to try different songs. It aint all about just punchlines and all that now. Em, 50 and DMX, all these people, they switched it. They made the listeners really want to hear what you feel as an artist and as a person. They dont want to hear a bunch of fantasizing and a bunch of lying.
Indeed, Latruth world order is packed with enough variety to please die-hard LAtruth fans and to invite newcomers to become acquainted with his sound as well. LAtruth is no longer a brash emcee with far flung aspirations to Hip-Hops throne, but a savvy veteran with legit claims to the crown.
