A combination of spellbound sounds, lifelong lyrics with transferred emotions all transcribe singer, songwriter and musician, Josh X-an-tus. Rising to the occasion on every level with his début R&B album, Can I Live in the midst all of the world’s current economic strife, listeners can find an escape in his new album Can I Live. Josh X-an-tus expertly transports listeners to another place by combining great musicianship with a narrative so compelling that his record plays like an aural novella. Listeners better hold on tight as his personal melodic rollercoaster dips low in some places but also induces unbelievable highs with topics that include the struggle of trying to get a record deal, the blossoming of young love, the infamous love triangle, the death of his grandfather and the critical illness of his mom. Each experience gave Josh a new song to sing that others can now enjoy.
Josh X-an-tus enters the playing field with chops honed since his pre-teen days. The native New Yorker began piano on the insistence of his mother at the age of 6, which led to classical training at the famed Julliard School of Music. His education continued with him earning a degree from Five Towns College, home to R&B songstress Chrisette Michelle as well as Julian Casablancas (of The Strokes), Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael.
Audiences first became acquainted with Josh via his hot buzz song “Let’s Ride,” featuring Jadakiss. The video also did well and was featured in MTV’s top ten countdown. Later, the former A Tribe Called Quest-affiliated MC Consequence took it upon himself to remix “Let’s Ride,” and brought in more star power with Busta Rhymes. It débuted on Kanye West’s blog, KanyeUniversecity.com/blog, to rave reviews.
He plans to keep the momentum going with his album, Can I Live. On the debut single, “First Time,” Josh describes, in almost breathless vocals, a young couple’s tender first lovemaking session. For anyone who recalls their first time falling in love or making love, “First Time” brings all those potent memories flooding right back. It’s a classic, come-hither introduction to Josh’s world. As the plot of Can I Live thickens, Josh finds himself caught in the groove between two lovers. “In Luv with 2,” a Can I Live highlight, layered rational of infidelity of being “In Love with Two Women
Josh X-an-tus is signed with independent label, M USA ENTERTAINMENT, who has distribution through major label EMI. Josh X-an-tus has clearly concocted a winning formula, making the answer to his rhetorical Can I Live question pretty obvious to all who give the album a spin. But in case you missed it, the answer is a resounding “Yes,” and he does it quite well.
